So, I'm sitting here enjoying the last few minutes of calm at work, knowing that my job is done for the day and rejoicing that I won't be stuck here until 9:00 tonight (like I was last night - yikes!)... and I realized I posted that DOXA is taking place on Friday night.
It's not.
It's actually taking place on Saturday night (March 21). Same time, same place.
Sorry for any misunderstanding!
So far the moral of our story is just when life becomes predictable, God turns it upside down... But this is just the beginning!

I'm glad I'm not working Tuesday!
I was supposed to work Tuesday. But now I'm not. And I'm glad.
Why? Well, besides the craziness at work that has led to a LOT of overtime lately for everyone, Jim is having surgery on Tuesday and I'm thankful I get to take the time off to be there for him.
Don't worry - I plan on taking a lot of pictures to post forblackmail updates.

A little about Jim...
I have finally discovered the way to my husband's heart - ice cream.
As you may have guessed from my previous posts, I have been working nights a lot these past few weeks. Unfortunately this means Jim is a virtual bachelor, as all I do is come home, go straight to bed, get up and go straight back to work. How does he ever survive without his wife to cook, clean, and spend time with him?
He goes to Sonic for ice cream.
Unfortunately, he discovered this past week that a) I must be working a lot and b) he goes to Sonic maybe a little too often when they didn't charge him for his ice cream treat.
Why? Because the workers noticed he had been to Sonic every night for the past five nights and felt sorry for him.
The lessons I learned from this story are a) I need to stock up the fridge with leftovers before I go back to work and b) I need an ice cream maker. Preferably the Kitchen Aid ice cream maker attachment for my mixer, hint hint. Maybe then my poor husband wouldn't have to depend on Sonic to survive those long, lonely nights without me.
Aren't you glad it only took me two years of marriage to figure out the way to my husband's heart?

Updates... #7,251.
Why is this Update #7,251? Because it feels that way.
I am trying to make this post a little more cheery than the last one, but to someone who craves routine, stability and structure, my chaotic life full of change has me about going off the edge. Here is the 411 on some of those changes threatening to ruin my sanity.
Change #1: My Job
Yes, I know I have been working full-time now for almost five months. You would think my work life would have settled a little bit. Not! My big frustration at work is my lack of a stable schedule. I get my schedule four weeks at a time, and it rotates constantly, both day and night. I never know what I am days/nights I am working beyond my four-week time frame.
Part of my frustration is that I am married to a youth/worship minister, who always has a busy schedule full of church and youth events. Our biggest struggle has been finding time together. And it seems like I am always scheduled to work on the days/nights Jim has off.
Change #2: My Home
After much prayer and consideration, Jim and I moved out of our apartment and in with his parents. This is a Dave-Ramsey-approved solution, as we should be debt free easily by the end of this year. Also, we hope to help his parents out by helping out with their home improvements and yard work. So why am I frustrated? Because we had to move!
We were able to move quickly, in a few days. Unfortunately I had to return to work immediately following our move, which gave me exactly enough time to set up my bed and find my clothes. And that was just about all. The rest of our space was full of boxes and furniture and disorganization and mess. And you all know that I can not handle mess!
Literally, I can not focus or concentrate when my home is a mess. My roommates in college used to laugh at me reorganizing my closet before a big test - because there was no way I could sit and study knowing my closet was a mess. And it's still that way. I can go to work and function, but my mind is in a constant state of panic thinking about the mess at home. Yikes!
The conclusion: I'm embarrassed that I've been sitting here whining for the past 20 minutes. Jim tells me I need to get over myself and eat something because obviously my blood sugar is low.
Which is reason #7,252 why I'm married to him.

Valentine's Day
My Valentine's Day?
I worked 12.5 hours. On 5 hours of sleep.
Then I came home to a delicious candlelight dinner of steak, mashed potatoes, and broccoli cheddar soup prepared by my well-dressed husband (who is, I might note, the best husband in the world!).
I spent exactly one hour and fifteen minutes enjoying this meal before I went to bed to repeat the cycle again today.
